CHINLIT 289. The Poetics and Politics of Affect in Modern China
The role of affect in modern Chinese aesthetics and politics. Cultural and social theories of affect (love, hate, fear, grief, ressentiment, rage, sympathy, sincerity, shame, and nostalgia); affective discourses across agenres and media including fiction, poetry, film, journalism, and television; and mass social movements such as protest, uprising, and revolution.
