Abstract: "I plan to give suggestions on how
to have a positive interaction with the OTL, how to "help them (the OTL)
help you", and the role the OTL plays in the inventorship/ownership and
commercialization process. "
Biosketch: Jessica Anne Connor, MS is currently
working as Intellectual Property Manager at Baxano, Inc and as a patent agent
with ShayGlenn LLP where she writes patent applications, provisional patent
applications, and office action responses. She also conducts investigations for
the patentability of new inventions.
Jessica was Schox Patent Group's Senior Patent Agent from
2004 to 2008, specializing in Medical Devices. In September of 2006, Jessica
graduated from the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship Program, which is
known for its intensive clinical immersion. During her time as a fellow,
Jessica reached a deep understanding of multiple clinical areas including
obstructive sleep apnea, obesity, laparoscopic surgery, heart failure, and
emphysema. Jessica and her team filed three patents, received an NCIIA Advanced
E-Team grant, won second place in the Stanford Business Plan competition, and
were semi-finalists for the USF and the MIT 100K.
Jessica received her MS in Biomechanical Engineering from
Stanford University and her BS (Magna Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Michigan. Jessica interned for the IDEO Health Practice in
2006, Ethicon Endo-Surgery in 2004, and for Stryker Instruments in 2003.
