The term "we" in this section refers the eight members in our group. Our group was one of five completing a class website. The course is Bilingual Education, Education 388A for spring quarter 2000 as part of the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) curriculum. All groups are currently in teaching placements at either the middle or high school level. All quotations were collected during April 2000.

Some of Our Initial Questions:

            What does a standardized test really measure? What responsibility and accountability should teachers have for standardized tests? Can a single test be fair for all students? How should the results of standardized test be used? How do the results of such tests affect the way parents and their children choose a school? What are the costs of "teaching to test"?

Course Objectives:

         The "course offers a survey bilingual education and the education of language minority children in the United States. Readings draw from a broad spectrum of documents, ranging from court decisions, laws, and policy statements, to classroom and behavioral research studies…" For more information please refer to:
