FAMILY HISTORY PAGE

Over the last few years, I've been learning about my father's ancestral family. Those surnames include RITTER (2 families), HAMMAN, BACHMAN/BAUGHMAN, HIMES (2 families), HOOVER, OBERHOLTZER, SNYDER, SHAFFER, GRINDEL and EARNST. Some collateral family names of interest are PINKERTON, KNISELY, HAYHURST, HAYDEN, HOEVET, MORELOCK, COOK, CRISMAN, LOEHR, LEWALLEN, MOCK, TOMS, AMMERMAN, and MANIER.

Eventually I hope to have links for most of these families. I've put my RITTER databases on line at Rootsweb and added links for a couple of the other families

Most of these ancestral families were of German or Swiss anabaptist heritage. Soon after the revolution, they began to migrate toward the frontiers. The areas of settlement included Stark, Carroll, and Tuscarawas Counties in Ohio and Lake and Kosciusko in Indiana.
