Programs and projects we've sponsored:
Earth Day 2018: End Plastic Pollution A label making it easy to reuse a plastic spray soap dispenser featuring the work of Canadian artist, Patricia Pepin.
A 27-page booklet Camouflage as Science Art: Remaining Hidden and Becoming Apparent written and illustrated by Science Art-Nature CEO and co-founding board member, Darryl Wheye (2018).
Four virtual exhibits include: Challenges of Climate Change: An Artistic Perspective (2020), Windows on Evolution (2013), Bringing Symposia to Life (2011), and The Art of Science (2010).
Two "on the ground' activities at Stanford University include the production of several nature walk podcasts and the installation of Audubon images of birds presented as Science Art in nine campus buildings and a digital presentation in a 10th building. The podcasts feature campus flora and fauna, including information about their ecology and sustainability, and related work by Stanford researchers. They also feature outdoor sculptures presented as Science Art. The Audubons feature species seen on campus. They were installed in 2014 and will be exhibited for at least two years. The digital presentation , posted in 2016, integrates science done at Stanford University's Jasper Ridge Biology Preserve (JRBP), which sponsored the slide show, and art highlighting societally relevant messages.
Future programs (when funding is available) will include activities associated with:
Science Art production (e.g., the provision of small grants)
Science Art education, information, and advocacy (e.g., advances in the production of a podcast (see below), production of an online quarterly e-mag, establishment of an online forum, and other website services; and the provision of small subsidies and other incentives to scientists to include examples of Science Art in their publications)
