Spinal cord injury results in partial or complete paralysis
for the parts of the body innervated below the level of injury. At present, no
method to regenerate the spinal cord exists that restores the functions lost
from the paralysis. Our research is directed toward maintaining the health of
bone and soft tissue in the affected areas, improving the functional outcomes
of surgical interventions, and developing assistive devices to enable
individuals with spinal cord injuries to work and to perform activities of
daily living.
