Principal Investigators: Machiel Van der Loos, PhD Project Staff: Charles G. Burgar, MD; Peter S. Lum, PhD; and Peggy Shor, OTR Collaborators: Richard Mahoney, PhD, ARC, Fairfield, NJ Project Category: Stroke Building on the NIH SBIR Phase-1 project by Applied Resources, Corp. (NJ) to develop and test an upper limb exercise functional prototype, the goal of the Phase-2 project is to develop a full production prototype and test it clinically in stroke rehabilitation centers. Clinical testing will be completed at or coordinated by the RRDC, which developed and clinically-validated the exercise protocols used on the prototype ARC-MIME system under contract. This system has the potential to assist clinicians in augmenting a client's upper limb function and personal independence after stroke, which is significant for veteran stroke survivors.
