Principal Investigator: Machiel Van der Loos, PhD Project Staff: Charles G. Burgar, MD; Deborah E. Kenney, MS, OTR; Ellie L. Buckley, RPT; Carol Ann Davidson, RPT, Eric L. Topp, MSME, J. Joseph Wagner, MSME Project Category: Stroke The main objective of the Functional Performance and Assessment (FPAT) project is to evaluate the efficacy of personalized videotapes as a wheelchair transfer training tool for persons who are discharged to their homes following acute stroke rehabilitation. A second goal is to study the effectiveness of digital-video-based assessment by clinicians of the functional status of their patients through the rehabilitation process. If proven effective, the FPAT home-based healthcare training method has broad telemedicine implications for a number of clinical populations, not just those recovering from a stroke.
