Graham Creasey demonstrates a transfer board for VA patients that was designed and developed by Dave Jaffe while at the VA in Palo Alto. After many engineering iterations from the complex to simple, affordable, functional, transparent for X-rays and lightweight, this device is ubiquitous around the halls. When I was on my back last March in Stanford emergency and had to be transferred from bed to board for C-spine examination, it took 4 strong people and a lot of effort to-back to the bed. Man, I can still feel the pain!

Actually I believe it was a colleague of David Jaffe, Eric Sabelman, who led the development of the board. As with most good inventions, I am sure there was teamwork involved.
