Boards

I serve on governance and policy boards for a number of organizations. They all have to do with education, especially on matters that impact poor and minority students. They include:

National Educational Research Policy and Priorities Board, U. S. Department of Education, a policy-making body appointed by the Secretary of Education to help set priorities and standards in education research. I presently chair the board.

Spencer Foundation, which funds research and initiatives to increase the capacity for better research in education. Member, Board of Directors.

Educational Testing Service, Member, Board of Trustees.

META, Inc., Board of Trustees (no website, but see commentary from Wall Street Journal).

National Research Council, Board on Testing and Assessment, Forum on Educational Excellence and Testing Equity.

Center for Applied Linguistics retired as chair, Board of Trustees, but one never retires from CAL.
