Family: Tubiferaceae
Genus: Lycogala

With thanks to Kathleen Wong for sending me to an article that identifies these as either
Lycogala epidendrum or Lycogala terrestre).
According to the article:
"Microscopic examination of the spores is required for a definite determination. The common name is wolf's milk. "

Kathleen thought these were reminiscent of "Dippin' Dots".

Apparently, as they age, they lose their color.

When depressed, these small structures had the consistency of a water balloon.

When pierced, a colorful liquid emerged.
Because of their flexibility, they were not readily pierces.
