Notes:
The African wolf used to be classified as a subspecies of the golden jackal.
The reclassifiication came in 2015 when DNA data showed it was more closely related to wolves and coyotes than to jackals.
Partly as a result of DNA reclassifications, the terms wolf, dog, jackal, and fox are now quite ambiguous and do not form clear phylogenetic groups.
For example, two different genera (Canis and Lupulella) still include species referred to as jackals.
African dogs are no longer in the genus Canis but are sometimes referred to as African wolves which are in the genus Canis (along with gray wolves.)
It is all very confusing.

Dogs misc
This remarkable scene unfolded as we looked out from Richard's porch.
The dogs repeatedly crossed the Olifant River into Kruger NP.

Pursued
Both predator and prey spend a fair bit of time in the air.
The hunt appeared to be successful but we went never able to verify
that as fact.
