Attendance: In general, I will expect you to attend all
class meetings and to be fully prepared to discuss the assignment. Of
course, things happen, and occasionally you may not be able to make class;
when that happens, let me know as soon as possible by e-mail or phone. If
you miss two classes, you can expect your grade to suffer; if you miss
four, you will fail the class. I also take a rather dim view of persistent
and habitual lateness.
Conferences: You will be required to meet with me two
times during the quarter to discuss your work, the dates will be
arranged in class.
Assignments: Work is due at my office in Green
351B or my mailbox in Bldg. 90. If you need an extension, you must
arrange for it in advance.
Grading and Revisions You have the option of revising and
correcting all your papers, and I encourage you to do so. I will return
your original papers with plenty of comments but no grade; it is up to you
to decide if you want to make changes and how many to make. If you decide
to revise, please arrange a second due date with me; if not, let me know
your decision within a week.
Paper Formatting: Papers should be machine-printed, in
12-point Times Roman or the equivalent (no giant fonts!), with 1" margins,
doublespaced. I will accept attachments but not as substitutes for hard
copy.
Plagiarism: Violating the Honor Code is a serious
offense, even when done unintentionally. You can find it spelled out in
detail in the Stanford Bulletin, and it is your responsibility to
understand it. Please dont hesitate to come to me if you have any
questions. These policies are themselves a revision of Meg Worley's class
policies; they do not represent original work. If submitted as class work
without attribution, they would correctly be described as an example of
plagarism.
Dual Submission: Handing in a paper to satisfy two
assignments (for me and for another instructor) is permitted only with the
permission of the instructor.
Incompletes: I seldom give incompletes except in cases of
serious illness or injury.
