Relation of electronic/multimedia literacy to SLA processes

Background:  Language learners now come to the acquisition task armed with a number of significant skills grown out of their electronic and multimedia literacy. Where once second/foreign language instructors assessed and built on students’ native language skills in reading and writing, they can now do likewise with students’ electronic and multimedia literacy skills.

Research question:  How do specific aspects of electronic/multimedia literacy coincide with/complement second language acquisition processes?

Suggested methodology/comments:  Case studies of SL electronic/multimedia literacy practices.  Close analysis of instructional  practices that acknowledge and incorporate electronic/multimedia literacy.
