Sweet Honey in the Rock. Sweet
Honey
is performing in Oakland on January 24!! Inquire
at Feminist Studies about subsidized tickets! (priority
given to Feminist Studies and CSRE majors, but general tickets are expected
to be available). The bonding of text and song for this
ensemble began in 1973 under the guidance of founder and artistic director
Bernice Johnson Reagon, who was then vocal director of the D.C. Black Repertory
Company in Washington, D.C. Sweet Honey's first members came out of her
vocal workshops. This commercial site includes a short bio of Sweet
Honey, a list of albums with all song titles, and short song clips. (discussed
in lecture, 10/20/97 and 10/27/97) Pictured are Ysaye Maria Barnwell,
Nitanju Bolade Casel, Shirley Childress Johnson, Aisha Kahlil, Carol Maillard
and Bernice Johnson Reagon, order unknown (sorry). The FS101 Soundtrack. Not available in stores! Here's a complete songlist with titles, artists, and production information.

Fiction. Bibliographies, book reviews, suggestions for books,
TV, radio, and just about everything else you could possibly imagine.

South Asian
Women's Network. A forum for those interested in South Asian
women's issues. Books, films, political organizing, domestic violence
resources, etc. This is also a great research site which
provides or links to groups/organizing/resources that you won't find anywhere
else.
JusticeNet follows current events
on the prison system, criminal justice, and related issues...check out

Webjefa's choice: ba/three,
an incredible piece of poetry by Vietnamerican poet Tran Trong Dat at
his personal website.
The MilitaryWoman Website
contains a fascinating mix of first person accounts from women's lives
in the military, including training camp, harassment, family issues, and
tours of duty.
Check out Ladyslipper
Music, a non-profit organization whose "primary purpose is to heighten
public awareness of the achievements of women artists and musicians, and
to expand the scope and availability of recordings by women." They also
have a good listing of Sweet
Honey albums.
Sakyadhita: the International
Association of Buddhist women has a collection of links and resources
for Buddhist women.
Women in Judaism:
A Multidisciplinary Journal is a forum for
scholarly debate on gender-related issues in Judaism. The ultimate aim
of the journal is to promote the reconceptualization of the study of Judaism,
by acknowledging and incorporating the roles played by women, and by encouraging
the development of alternative research paradigms.
Sister-Site
is a site for the discussion of issues relating to the lives of Catholic
women religious which has a small section on Interfaith
Women's Communities, and International
Women's Spiritualities.

The
Abortion Rights Activist Site. The site includes updates on
clinic violence, information on abortion, tools for activists, and a general
reference library. Also see basic

in the Global Economy with a focus on CrossBorder Organizing. Includes
updates on Women
in Action: organizing strategies (which includes a slew of women's
labor groups including Mujer a Mujer, Justice for Janitors, La Mujer Obrera),
a history of Chicana
organizers in Texas, as well as research and information on Global
Solidarity.
