OPPIE and FlashPoint via LANL: Access Ends 31 August 2009
My apologies for the 11th hour notification, but access to OPPIE and FlashPoint from LANL will end on August 31, 2009.
The OPPIE platform has enabled users to search Biosis, Engineering Index, Inspec, and the three citation databases SciSearch, Social SciSearch, and Arts & Humanities. FlashPoint searched the databases on OPPIE plus MathSciNet and PubMet.
Access is ending from developments both at Stanford and at LANL.
- With budget pressures increasing, the Libraries’ review of databases found the once innovative multi-database search tools from LANL have declined in service value.
- LANL development on the OPPIE interface has been halted and external partners such as Stanford were informed that database services would cease.
Below are alternative ways to access the resources that were available via OPPIE and FlashPoint:
- Web of Knowledge
- Search Web of Science, Derwent Innovations Index, Biosis, CAB Abstracts, Inspec, Medline, and Zoological Record at one time.
- Web of Science
- Biosis
- Engineering Index
- Inspec
- MathSciNet
- PubMed
Please note that efforts are underway to provide cross-searching of multiple resources at one time by Fall Quarter. The “SULAIR Cross Searching” service will include all of the resources that have been available from LANL plus additional resources.
Again, my apologies for the short notice. Many thanks for your patience and support! Stay tuned for more news…
