#7. Embankment at Dutch Ravine
A standard Hart Photo designed to show cutting and filling. You can see how when water ran down dry ravines, such as the one in the center of the picture, these road beds were vulnerable to wash outs. When traveling West, you enter Dutch Ravine through Bloomer Cut. The railroad runs through Dutch Ravine between the Auburn Station until just past Newcastle, when the tracks turn into Antelope Ravine through which it gradually descends to the plain.
Obscured by the trees at the top right of the picture is a modern housing development.
