7. Viral Infection I: Entry.

 

Viral entry is depicted. Retroviruses enter by at least two different manners, dependent upon the retroviral subclass as shown. The viral envelope is critical in each case for recognizing appropriate surface receptors to initiate viral fusion to the host target cells.
