A Tale of Two
Wheelchairs Teri A. Adams,
JD Stanford Office of Accessible Education |
Abstract: I will talk about the
difficulty -- and sharply contrasting ease -- of getting my last two power
wheelchairs, five years apart. I will use my personal story to illustrate the
difficulties / struggles that people with disabilities can go through, just to
get their minimum equipment needs met.
Biosketch: Teri Adams is an Associate
Director of the Office of Accessible Education. The OAE is committed to
providing Stanford students with disabilities the support and services needed
to allow them the opportunity to participate in the rich and varied life at
Stanford University. In addition to academic accommodations for students, Teri
also expedites all housing assignments and facilities requests related to
disability.
