Minca
Minca, Colombia
May 6, 2014
Picked up from the ground, this was one of the most delicious mangos, ever.
In fact, there were ripe and rotting mangos everywhere and much of Minca smelled of mango.
This reminded me of when I was a kid and we had a mango tree in the yard.
When they were ripe, Alan would go outside and gorge himself on the fruit
with the juice running down his face.
At the time, I thought both mangos and this ritual were disgusting.
Now I realize how much I was missing out on. :D
Africa in Colombia
Guinea fowl
When we arrived in Minca, one of the first things we encountered was a pair of African Guinea fowl.
Apparently, there are fairly common.
Apparently, they are kept among the chickens and help to protect them,
(as well as making good eating.)
I say "kept", but all these birds range freely.

I'm pretty sure azul refers to the color of my skin after a few seconds of immersion,
rather than the color of the water.

Darwin, Darwin, and Bob
At the shopping center near Irotama,
there was a grocery store with two check-out clerks named Darwin and Candida.
Although this is a picture of Darwin, he is also a "fun guy."

With tremendous thanks to Andres Mendez for being an outstanding traveling companion and host!
Also thanks to Hernando for our kayak outing.
