Machu Picchu, Peru

This picture was taken on a trip to Machu Picchu, Peru, in September, 1998. The center shows the legendary ruins of the Incas first discovered in 1911 amidst a dense forest. In the background isWayna Picchu. Machu Picchu is the center of the Lost Province of the Incas who settled in the region 500 years ago. The spectacular granite architecture and agricultural terraces (foreground) reveal the intelligence and hard-working traits of the Incas. It is a shame that details of the picture are lost on the Web page.
