Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and, by courtesy, of Computer Science and Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University.
I direct the Stanford Translational AI (STAI) Lab in Medicine and Mental Health. I am the PI and Co-Director of the Stanford University AI & Technology Collaboratory (SU-AITC), an NIH P30 center for precision health and interventions in aging and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and a Co-Director of the Stanford Initiative on AI for Mental Health (AI4MH).
My interdisciplinary research group is associated with multiple labs and centers, including the Computational Neuroscience (CNS) Lab in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Stanford Vision and Learning (SVL) Lab in Computer Science.

Research group
The lab brings together three collaborating groups (Computer Vision, Computational Neuroscience, and Health AI) to translate advances in machine learning into real-world impact for patient care, mental health, and healthy aging.
Visit the lab websiteThank you for your interest in our lab. I receive a large number of inquiries each year, and while I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm, please note that I am unfortunately unable to respond to all individual emails, particularly from those who are not currently affiliated with Stanford.
Admissions are decided by departmental committees, not individual faculty. If you are applying to a Stanford graduate program and wish to work with me, please indicate your interest in your application materials.
If your research is highly aligned with our lab’s focus areas, please send me an email with your CV and a short research statement. Current positions are listed on the lab’s openings page.
