Join our Lab

One of the major goals of our lab is to train a new generation of scientist interested in understanding the brain and committed to improving human health and well being.  I am always interested in recruiting smart, ambitious and friendly students and postdocs.  The fellowship of scientist transcends national borders and cultures.  I am interested in recruiting a diverse group of people because I firmly believe that this generates the most diverse group of ideas and that this leads to the best possible science.   If you are interested in joining our group read on.

If you are looking for a postdoc please send an email to Ricardo (ricardo.dolmetsch@stanford.edu ) with a cover letter describing what you have worked on, what projects you would like to work on and what your career goals are. Please enclose your CV and the names, emails and phone numbers of three references.  To be considered, you will need at least one publication in a high quality international journal and you need to have a reasonable chance of getting a fellowship to support your stay at Stanford.

If you are looking for a graduate position and you are not at Stanford already, you will need to apply to the biosciences program at Stanford. More information about this process can be found by following this link.

If you are a Stanford graduate student looking for a lab, please email me (ricardo.dolmetsch@stanford.edu) and we can set up a time to meet.

If you are a Stanford undergraduate, please send me an email (ricardo.dolmetsch@stanford.edu) with your prior experience and your transcript (unofficial is fine) and we can arrange to meet or talk on the phone.  In general, undergraduates in our lab work for academic credit unless they apply for a VPUE grant.   You can find more information about the VPUE grant by following this link

If you are an undergraduate student anywhere else please be aware that we probably can’t pay you.  If you would like to volunteer send Ricardo an email with your experience and your transcript (unofficial is fine) and we can arrange to meet or talk on the phone.

High School Students

We take a very small number of high school students every year.  If you are a high school student and you are interested in volunteering, please send me an email (ricardo.dolmetsch@stanford.edu) with a one page essay telling me why you are interested in working in the lab. I will get back to you if I can find someone in the lab to mentor you.
