First Year Cohort

I graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Archaeology and Art History and received an MPhil in Archaeology, with a concentration in Archaeological Heritage and Museums, from Cambridge University. My various experiences working in different museums and my time researching at the Penn Cultural Heritage Center inspired my MPhil dissertation, which analyzed the relationship between tourism and Urartian period archaeological sites and the subsequent effects on national identity building. At Stanford, I intend to further pursue my research interests, which include how tourism, issues of conflict, and political agendas affect the presentation and management of Armenian archaeological materials and sites both in Armenia and eastern Turkey. More generally, my academic interests include heritage and museum management, tourism, heritage and conflict, diasporas and identity, globalization, and the trade in illicit antiquities.
