clarus

seamless, flexible communication between founders and designers

The Problem & Our Solution

Driven by real needs and in-person conversations with startup founders.

Our Approach

Current Challenges

Disorganized Feedback

Comments and messages are scattered in design files, creating clutter and slow collaboration between founders and designers.

AI-Driven Organization

Automatically organizes feedback by role, modality, and design element—turning unstructured input into clear, navigable context.

Slow Communication

Feedback is hard to express through text alone, leading to long meetings, back-and-forth clarification, and delayed progress.

Multimodal Real-Time Communication

Voice, screen recordings, text, and calling allow collaborators to communicate naturally and see progress unfold instantly.

Bringing founders to the drawing board.

Clarus gives founders real control in the design process—with seamless collaboration from anywhere.

Our Process

Explore our 10-week journey from needfinding to development.

A1: Needfinding

We conducted needfinding with founders and asked them questions about their design tool usage. Our interviewees were diverse in order to find the pains and needs of a wide range of start up founders.

A2: Experience Prototype

We defined our problem space better by constructing "How Might We" and "Point of View" statements. We then brainstormed solutions and constructed three prototypes to test assumptions we held.

A4: Concept Video

We showcased our vision through a concept video, visualizing the task flows, use cases of our app, and its core value proposition for founders.

A5: Low-Fi Prototype

A6: Med-Fi Prototype

We created a medium-fidelity interactive prototype with Figma. We also created and incorporated a design system.

We sketched our low-fi prototype, tested frames on founders, and evaluated the usability. Testing results guided our iterations for med-fi.

A9: Heuristic Evaluation Synthesis

We had peers review our med-fi prototype and conduct a heuristic evaluation. We looked at all the violations they proposed and organized them by category. We then implemented the violations into our prototypes.

A8: Interactive High-fi Prototype

We created a high-fidelity prototype of our app featuring full interactions and interface designs using the cross-platform development framework React Native.

A10: Poster & Pitch

We presented our project to interested parties and experts from Stanford, industry, and research in the Project Expo.
