These are photos from a trip to New Zealand some time ago with my wife Danielle. Fished with Simon Lusk for two days in the North Island and with Boris Cech. Hard to believe but have been here 12 times.... as of Dec 2010.
Just a quick link to New Zealand Trout Fisher . I have taken this magazine for more than a few years and the editor Peter Storey responds well to questions.
Somewhere on the South Island
One of 13 fish landed on first day in the South Island on an unnamed stream- no you do not get all the secrets here.
Wairau River
Largest fish of the trip. Eight pounds in the Wairau. Close-up in the title shot- may have been sea-run.
A crucial bit of unpleasantness is the possibility of a new hydro-power project on the Wairau... likely to take out a lot of the fishing to run more gadgets in Kiwi households. Taker a look at the web site and consider a donation.
View of Braided Wairau Directly Threatened
One of 13 fish landed on first day in the South Island on an unnamed stream- no you do not get all the secrets here.
Pulling them out of the Bushes
Sometimes the fish are in close to the bank.
How Come these Fish are So Big?
One answer is in this seven pound fish's mouth. Exactly what is it? The answer is hidden in the last paragraph on this page.
Danielle, Boris & Brown
Please keep your hand off the reel!
Who's Happier? Client or Guide?
One of nine fish landed that day on the Wairau. Danielle landed three to six pounds.
Don't Even Think of Asking Where this Pool Is
Simon perusing the fish at the bottom of this pool- yes, those are fish not logs.
