As the only chickadee found in the northern part of the States, Black-capped Chickadee can be easily spotted even in the deep winter. Instead migrating south, they stay on in the winter and feed on anything they can find. They resemble their smaller cousin, Carolina Chickadee, in appearance, but with distinct calling. This picture was taken after waiting in the freezing santuary for a few hours.
