The Responsible Conduct of Research --A discussion-based forum for scientists to learn how to identify and approach important ethical dilemmas that commonly arise in biomedical research. The course addresses ethical issues in the practice of research, such as in publication and interpretation of data, and issues raised by academic-industry ties. Contemporary debates at the interface of biomedical science and society regarding research on stem cells, bioweapons, and genetic testing are also explored. Specific topics such as ethical issues in human subjects or vertebrate animal research will be covered, tailored to the needs and interests of enrollees. |
