tp2HLM by David Rogosa and Ghassan Ghandour
The DOS utility tp2hlm.exe takes as input
a longitudinal data set with the rectangular structure shown in Exhibit 1 (p.153)
(with or without missing observations) and creates the within and between unit data
files for use by the HLM program of Bryk and Raudenbush.
The program requests
- Reminder file designation (an ASCII text file that records the data files which
are input and output by the program, plus the Fortran format statement for the
between and within files that is requested by the HLM program)
- input file designation
- number of time observations (T)
- whether or not there is an exogenous variable (W or Z)
- values of the time observations (same for all units)
- HLM output file designation for within-unit and between-unit files
A similar utility tpsm2hlm.exe can be used for creating
the HLM data files for longitudinal data structures (such as the data in the Reply)
where each individual has different observation times. This utility would be used for
data sets such as yfzfsm.dat and the requested input for the
program are two data files, the first containing the Y-observations and the second the
individual times of observations.
