About me

I am currently a postdoc at Stanford NLP working with Chris Manning and Dan Jurafsky. Previously, I was a doctoral student working with Eugene Charniak and Mark Johnson in the Brown Laboratory for Linguistic Information Processing (BLLIP). I'm interested in statistical natural language processing specifically semi-supervised and unsupervised methods (e.g. self-training) for morphology and syntax induction, and information extraction.

December 2011: BMC Bioinformatics paper accepted. Email us for a draft.
August 2011: Released source code and materials for the Event Parser (our system in the BioNLP 2011 shared task).
August 2011: Added slides and posters from recent talks. Also dug up the poster from ACL 2008.
June 2011: Attending ACL 2011 and BioNLP 2011. Presenting full event extraction poster at ACL and its application to BioNLP 2011 (single system, combined system -- latter will be presented jointly with Sebastian Riedel). Mihai Surdeanu will present our RELMS paper.
April 20th-22nd, 2011: Visiting Jude Shavlik's lab at UWisc. Talk on Extraction as Dependency Parsing, tutorial on KBP slot filling and Stanford CoreNLP (slides).
April 5th-8th, 2011: At Machine Reading Phase 3 Kickoff meeting. Poster on Event Extraction as Dependency Parsing.
March 2011: Participated in the BioNLP 2011 shared task. FAUST, our joint system with Sebastian Riedel (UMass), got first place in three of the four evaluations, and second place in the fourth.
February 20th-26th, 2011: Visiting Andrew McCallum's lab at UMass Amherst. Gave a talk on Event Extraction As Dependency Parsing.
February 2011: The BLLIP parser is now on BitBucket. Download the bleeding-edge version here. I've also converted waterworks and hope to convert my other public software projects to BitBucket soon. Also available on GitHub.
