| Southwest Road Trip /Dave and I followed directions to the Warm Springs in the California Desert Byways book and got lost. Evidently, the place (the road to warm springs) is not marked as such and in fact, the book mentioned a marker by way of a painted rock on the side of the road - guess what! There was NO PAINTED ROCK. Luckily we saw two cars heading out toward Saline Valley Rd when we stopped and asked if the road they were just on is the way to the springs. The only marker we saw for the Springs at the Saline Valley Rd and Warm Springs Rd intersection is "Boundray 11". This place is not advertised in Death Valley maps or brochures. The way you would know about it is through word-of-mouth. Stumbling into an oasis in the middle of the desert felt like a scene from a movie. Clothing is optional and it looked like a lot of old timers hang out there some might even live there. |
