| Southwest Road Trip /The following pictures were taken at Monument Valley. It is the most scenic areas in the country with its buttes, mesas, canyons, and free standing rock formation that defy gravity. The Navajo call this place Tse' Bii' Ndzisgaii. For generations, Navajo residents have herded sheep and other livestock and raised small quantities of crops in Monument Valley. Out of the 300,000+ Navajo population, a small percentage still live on the land. Archeologists have recorded more than 100 ancient Anasazi sites and ruins dating before 1300 A.D in Monument Valley. |
