| Southwest Road Trip /Canyon de Chelly Navajo Triabal Park. Canyon de Chelly (pronounced Che) is home to several periods of Indian culture dating from 350 A.D. to 1300 A.D. and the 26-mile canyon's sheer cliffs range from 30 to more than 1000ft, providing a spectacular backdrop for hundreds of Anasazi ruins as well as modern Navajo homes and farms. This pic was taken at the White House, which is not a navajo structure. It was built and occupied centuries ago by ancient Puebloan people, it's named for a long wall in the upper dwelling that is covered with white plaster. |
