| Axum / This tree in the center of town is believed to be where Saint Yared, Ethiopian musician credited with inventing the sacred music tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and Ethiopia's system of musical notation, had an epiphany. Saint Yared was born in 525 AD in the city of Axum. When Yared was young he had difficulty learing in school until he ran away from home traveled for the entire day and he came to rest under a tree.
