Kiyoul Yang is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University working with Prof. Jelena Vučković. He earned his PhD degree at the California Institute of Technology in 2018 under the tutelage of Prof. Kerry Vahala. His research involves silicon photonics, nonlinear optics, laser physics and inverse design, with a focus on photonic hardware implementation for scientific studies and technological applications. He is a recipient of the Paul F. Forman Team Engineering Excellence Award (2020), Stanford Nano- & Quantum science & engineering postdoctoral fellowship (2018), and the Caltech Atwood graduate fellowship (2010). He serves on the technical program committee of the IEEE Photonic Conference.
