You are asked to prepare a poster display of one of the following states: Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Arizona, California.

On the display, please make sure you address the following:

• The state bird (extra credit).
• The population of language minority students and their socioeconomic characteristics.
• The programs for LEP students.
• Identification / reclassification procedures for LEP students.
• Status of standards-based reform in the state.
• State certification requirements (if any) for teachers of LEP students.
• Educational outcomes for LEP students..
• Politics surrounding programming for LEP students.

In the class meeting on Feb. 15, we will have the posters displayed on the walls, and each team will be asked to give a brief (5-minute) presentation of their state. After that, there will be an opportunity for students to visit the other poster sites and discuss details with the authors.
