Samoa consists of several islands that are in the western part of the pacific
ocean. The islands are only 18 degrees south of the equator, and making
for a tropical climate. The islands are located about 2, 400 miles southwest
of Hawaii.
The Samoan islands used to be all be a part of Polynesia. Now, they
have been split up and labeled as Western Samoa and Eastern, or American Samoa.
Long ago Germany, the United Sates and The British wanted to rule the islands,
as a result of their desires:
Eastern Samoa was taken over by the United States in 1900. Today they
are run, politically by the U.S.
Western Samoa was taken under Germany and then New Zealand, however, they
fought for their independence and won, now Western Samoa is its own independent
country.
