Dear RF and CDs,
I hope that you are having a restful spring break. It was nice to see some of
you at the RF meeting last week. Here's a summary of the RCC hiring information
from the meeting:
HIRING TIMELINE
RCC dates are included in your residential
staff selection calendar which you should have received from Josh Schiller.
Here are the dates that are pertinent to you for RCC selection:
4/2 1pm RCC applications due online
4/9 12pm RCC applications passed online
4/14 12pm Deadline for RFs to offer RCC interviews online
4/15 2pm Deadline for candidates to accept interviews/RF & CD interviews

4/27 5pm RCC preferences due online
4/28 5pm RFs/CDs notified of RCC appointments
4/29 9am Applicants notified
4/29 4pm Deadline for RCCs to accept offers
INTERVIEWING RCCs
You may interview RCCs any way you like to ensure that the applicant will fit
in with the house and with your idea of a house staff member. However, in order
to ensure a fair process, please do not indicate how you will rank the applicant
or if you will rank the applicant at all.
RCC PREFERENCES
Please make sure that you rank applicants who you are willing to hire. Depending
on the applicant and RF preferences across the board, it may be possible that
you may end up with your tenth choice, so you should make sure you feel comfortable
with everyone on the preference list.
MATCHING PROCESS
Like the RA process, if your first choice is also an applicant's first choice,
that will be a match. If the applicant you rank is no longer available (and
has been assigned to someone else), all of your rankings will move up.
APPLICATION MATERIALS
Application materials include the RCC application (completed by the applicant),
a recommendation letter (for new applicants), an unofficial transcript, and
Rescomp's interview evaluations. At 12pm on April 9, 2004, application materials
will be available to you online with the exception of transcripts which will
be available at Old Union at that
time. In order to obtain hard copies of the application materials, you will
need to print them out. By that time, your RSAS will have the knowledge they
need to print out the application materials. Please make arrangements with your
RSAS if you would like assistance in obtaining hard copies of the application
materials.
RESCOMP INTERVIEW EVALUATIONS
Like last year, each new applicant will have an interview evaluation sheet which
includes our evaluation of the candidate based on their application, recommendation,
and interview with ResComp. You will receive a list of strengths, weaknesses,
technical comments, personal comments, a technical score, a personal score,
and a final
recommendation of either strongly recommend, recommend, or recommend with reservations
(we only reserve "strongly recommend" for exceptional candidates).
When determining which candidates to interview, you should take our interview
evaluation and final recommendation into account as we have screened them for
their technical and personal skills.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ON RETRIEVING MATERIALS
If you are planning to access the application materials, here are the instructions:
=> DOWNLOAD APPLICATIONS <=
1) Go to http://selection.stanford.edu.
2) Click login button.
3) Select "Admin" for login type, click the Select button.
4) Select "Applications".
5) Click on the link to "Row RCC Application".
6) Select the appropriate "Admin Name".
7) Click on the "Select All" button
8) Make sure "Includes Comments: Yes" is selected
9) Click "Download Selected" button.
A PDF file with all selected applications will be downloaded to your computer.

Do Steps 1-3 above
4) Select "Recommendations"
5) Select the appropriate "Admin Name".
6) Click on the link to "RCC Recommendations"
7) Select your applicants from the list
8) Click "Download Selected" button.
A PDF file with all selected recommendations will be downloaded to your computer.
