About Me

I am currently a third-year PhD student at Stanford University studying mechanical engineering. After completing dual degrees in music from Emory University and mechanical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, I continued on to a masters at Georgia Tech where I worked in human neurophysiology. In 2014, I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship to work in the Biorobotics Lab at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL). There I helped design and conduct various experiments in human motor control and helped develop various mathematical models to explain the behaviors we observed. At Stanford, I am continuing this work to examine what goes wrong in individuals that suffer from stroke and how we can help to rehabilitate them.

Motor Control

Controlling movement in the real world is a difficult problem, but we humans are able to handle many motor tasks without trouble. We want to use engineering tools like optimal control, motion capture, and specialized robots to understand how the human nervous system is such an adept controller and what happens after neuromotor illness or injury such as stroke.
