IT Architecture
is the physical and logical design, as well as the technical and functional
characterization, of all interoperating computer systems and services across a
defined domain. Attention is to the general, not the specific; with emphasis on
strategic planning.
An institutional architectural model and strategy is only as
successful as its response to the institutional goals, requirements and
policies. The corollary to this
statement is that an IT architectural plan/strategy will only be successful if
the institutional goals, requirements and policies are well defined and broadly
honored.
