Project Team

The project team is composed of the following Principal Investigators and their students.

  • Ronaldo I. Borja (Stanford University, California, USA) works in coupled solid deformation-fluid flow phenomena, inelastic behavior of geomaterials, and initiation and propagation of discontinuities in solid and granular materials. He has recently co-authored papers on granular flow including the prediction of the free surface, wave-induced liquefaction of coastal slopes, and landslide initiation in variably saturated slopes.

  • Keith Loague (Stanford University) is a hydrologist. His research group engages in the combined field characterization and physics-based numerical simulation of surface/near-surface hydrologic-response processes as they relate to catchment-scale landscape evolution. Recent efforts have focused on debris flow initiation and transport-limited erosion.

  • Wei Wu (Universität für Bodenkultur, Vienna, Austria) is the Head of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at BOKU. His work involves constitutive modeling of soils, element tests and centrifuge model testing, and simulation of debris flow via discrete element method.
