The Hoover Institution Archives is presenting two British history exhibits in conjunction with the "Britain Meets the Bay" festival, a series of programs celebrating the British cultural and commercial presence in the Bay Area. " Forward to Victory: British Posters from the First and Second World Wars" and "Notes from the Underground: The Building of the London Sewers" will run from March 14 - June 30, 1997, in the Herbert Hoover Memorial Pavilion. The Pavilion, located next to Hoover Tower, is open Monday through Saturday, 11am to 4pm..
Exhibits were guest-curated by Prof. Peter Stansky's British History seminar. Students researched the Bazalgette collection, loaned to Hoover from Green Library's Special Collections, and the poster collection of the Hoover Archives.

Deni leaves the Loan Division of Green Library to join the Library Systems Office as a Computer Resources Associate, as of April 16th. She has very ably worn the three hats of Assistant Division Head, Head of Portal Unit, and Expert Partner, for many years. She has worked closely with staff throughout the libraries, serving on committees, on the Task Force to Rationalize Catalog Maintenance, the Notis Coordinators, and now, the Unicorn Coordinators team. We are very happy for Deni but are also very sorry to lose her. She will be missed.
Please join us on Tuesday, April 15th, from 2-4pm, for wishing Deni all the best in her future ventures. Cake and refreshments will be served.

There are three openings at the Information Desk in Green Library this quarter: Monday 10-11, and 1-2 and Thursday, 10-11. The Information Desk is staffed by volunteers from all parts of SUL. Located in the catalog area of Green Library, the Information Desk is a first line of help for students, faculty, staff and visitors using Green Library and SUL. The Information Desk volunteers answer directional questions, questions about what materials the library owns, and basic information about using Folio. Training will be cheerfully provided by yours truly, so don't let "not knowing how" keep you away. If you are interested and commit one hour a week for at least a quarter, please contact Liz Green at 5-1058 or emgreen@sulmail.
