Thank You All For Your Support!

My children, Lidia and Alex, and I were greatly touched by the overwhelming number of expressions of sympathy and condolence we received after the death of my husband and their father, Victor, on December 12th. I will answer each of you individually but I did want to let you all know sooner, rather than later, how much the words of comfort and prayers were appreciated and needed. Many of you had very kind and insightful things to say which were very helpful to me personally. Thank you again and I'll be seeing some of you starting next week when I return to work full time.

Glenna Nesmith Moves to the Law School

After a 7 year tenure in Systems, Glenna Nesmith is leaving for a new position at the Law School. Glenna came to Systems from the Fremont Union High School district and has worked in Systems doing desktop support, network troubleshooting and support, and consultation for the Library Expert Partners program. Some of her accomplishments while in Systems included the development of the software image for our original Mac Kiosks, management of many networking upgrades, and being a key part of the team that brought us into the Microsoft networking age this fall. What this doesn't account for are the years of being an energetic, can-do person who was there for the staff when the problems happened. However, since she's not going very far, we hope she'll come back and see us from time to time. We wish Glenna the very best of luck in her new position. She's taking some time off before starting at the Law School, so her last week in Systems will be next week. Please come by to wish her well.

Tony Lui departs from the Search/Order Section of Acquisitions and Jianmei Piao takes over

The Search/Order Section of Acquisitions has said goodbye to a long-time friend and welcomed a new one. Tony Lui has left us for a challenging retirement. His last day was November 27. With his usual modesty, Tony requested that no parties be given and left quietly and with the best wishes of his many friends in SUL.

Jianmei Piao has taken over Tony's position, starting January 1. Many of you know Jianmei from her former position in Serials. Drop by to see her in her new role. She is learning the new work quickly and is already a valued member of the ordering team.
