After 28 years of service at SUL, Ghaida Firestone has decided to retire. Her last day at work will be January 15.
From 1968 to 1990, Ghaida was in the Acquisitions Department, where she had held a number of different positions, from searcher to operations manager. Since 1990, Ghaida has been a copy cataloger in the serials cataloging section. Those of us who have the privilege of working with Ghaida through her long career here know that SUL is losing a most dedicated and competent employee, and us a witty and delightful colleague. Nevertheless, we are very happy that she has reached this milestone and would like to wish her health and much happiness in her retirement. Instead of slowing down, all signs indicate that Ghaida will remain active and vibrant as ever in her retirement. She is already making all sorts of plans, including a renovation of her house, and is eagerly expecting another grandchild in the coming Spring.
A farewell party will be held on Jan. 15, at 2:30, in room 303 of Sweet Hall. All are welcome.
