Not Like This
by Brian Kunde
A little verse can light a day,
And even nurse what you would say
To somewhat terse yet apt display.

It ought to fan to flame a thought;
Present to man some feeling fraught;
Portray your plan, pretense or plot.

Didactically, it might not do
As well, or be so good or true
A verbal key to insight new.

So don’t set down what you see here,
Or you will drown in diction drear
Your aim, to frown, disdain and jeer.

Now I’ve explained how not to write,
You may have gained a bit more light
Perusing, pained, this trifle trite.
