Submersible Mastodon
by Brian Kunde
He launches—
tusks like masts,
ears like sails:
big, hairy ship.
Will he sail
very well?

He launches—
makes a splash,
parts the sea:
big, hairy Moses,
whose nose is
his staff.

Will he float?
Will he sink?
Up, periscope!
Big, hairy submarine,
keeping his nose
above water.
