A Truce, and Other Stories is
a short story collection by Mary Tappan Wright, published as a chapbook by Fleabonnet Press in
September, 2008. The pieces in this collection were originally published in Scribner’s Magazinebetween 1890 and 1894: “Deep as First Love” in v. 15, no. 2, Feb. 1894; “From Macedonia” in v. 16, no. 4, Oct. 1894; “A Fragment of a Play, With a Chorus” in v. 9, no. 5, May 1891; “As Haggards of the Rock” in v. 7, no. 5, May 1890; “A Portion of the Tempest” in v. 15, no. 6, Jun. 1894; and “A Truce” in v. 9, no. 1, Jan. 1891. All were reprinted in A Truce, and Other Stories (New York : Charles Scribner’s Sons, Jun. 1895), the first and only edition of the collection prior to the present Fleabonnet Press edition. This internet edition comprises the entire contents of the chapbook, and reproduces with miniscule editorial intervention the original magazine and book texts.
