In addition to lecturing on civil rights and politics, Dr. Clayborne Carson, professor of History, also provides undergraduates with the opportunity to pursue meaningful scholarly research outside of the classroom. He has served as the director of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Research and Education Institute since 1985, and in that time has worked with over 300 Stanford students on this project to edit and publish the speeches and personal papers of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
