Treatment
Currently there are no vaccines or drugs used to prevent or treat noroviruses. Treatment usually consists of outpatient oral rehydration, rest, and electrolyte replacement. For patients who are severely dehydrated, intravenous hydration can be employed to quickly replenish fluids.
However, current research in calici viruses are looking into vaccines for Norwalk and Norwalk virus-like particles (VLPs) . There has been some success in creating increased immune response from recombinant capsid proteins. Over 90% of the participants had anti-VLP IgG.
