 Kuru Description: Mutated protein that can casue infection in humans and other mammals. Power: Transmitted through digestion and possibly tissue and organ transplants. Offenses Molecular Attack: Mutated protein in the brain has the ability to convert normal proteins into mutated proteins that are abnormal and do not function like regular proteins. The accumulation of these mutant proteins lead to the slow degeneration of the brain. Clinical Manifestations: Disease starts off with trembling and shaking, psychiatric changes occur, such as sporadic laughing, cerebellar ataxia/spongiform encephalitis, and dementia towards the end of the disease. Incubation/Length of Infection: Incubation can take years before symptoms appear. From the first signs of infection, the disease can last months to paralyze and eventually leads to death.
